Notre Dame Recruiting: Visit Preview vs. Ohio State - Defense Edition

In this story:
Notre Dame is set to host their biggest recruiting weekend this season when they battle Ohio State on Saturday. The crop of defensive players is especially impressive, including several priority recruits for the Irish.
Here is each recruit expected on campus this weekend. It promises to be a monumental weekend; especially if Notre Dame is able to campfire a victory over the Buckeyes.
KEY DEFENSIVE TARGETS
With the 2024 recruiting class nearly solidified, American Fork (Utah) High School safety Davis Andrews is a player that is barely mentioned. That is partly because there hasn’t been a big update lately, with Notre Dame seeming to trend for a while. Andrews is also scheduled to take an LDS mission out of high school which would make him unavailable for his school until 2026.
Still, the Notre Dame staff loves Andrews and his potential. The Utah native brings a nice combination of size, athleticism and versatility to the table. They have a chance to close things out with a big visit.
Notre Dame is expecting two talented 2025 defensive lineman on campus, including Chicago (Ill.) Simeon standout Christopher Burgess and Elmhurst (Ill.) York defender Joseph Reiff. Burgess is an absolute priority for the Irish. He is the type of local recruit that they need to be able to keep home.
At linebacker, there is a long list of big time players visiting this weekend. That includes Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joe’s Prep rover Anthony Sacca, Omaha (Neb.) Westside star Christian Jones, Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley standout Marco Jones and Highland Home (Al.) High School pass rusher CJ May. Each player brings a unique profile to the table, especially Sacca who is a safety for his high school.
There are a pair of cornerbacks that Notre Dame is very high on scheduled to visit in Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis athlete Mark Zackery IV and Buford (Ga.) High School star Devin Williams. Both players are slightly undersized cover men but bring big time cover skills to the table. Notre Dame has been trending in a great direction with both players.
It’s hard not to feel very encouraged by how safety recruiting in the 2025 class is progressing. This weekend the Irish staff is set to host Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor athlete JaDon Blair, Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School star Ethan Long and Naples (Fla.) Lely athlete Jayce Cora. Blair has a good argument as the top overall defensive athlete on the board and has a ton of upside. Long has been near the top of the Irish board for sometime now.
