Notre Dame Set To Host Linebacker Jacob Wrbanek For First Game Day

In this story:
It is the last home game of the season on Saturday for Notre Dame, which means it’s also the last opportunity to have recruits on campus this season. One player who will be in town for the battle against Wake Forest is 2025 Osseo (Minn.) Maple Grove linebacker Jacob Wrbanek, who has been in contact more and more with the Irish staff recently.
It is developing communication but Wrbanek is clearly a player they are keeping a close eye on. Those early talks have been very notable.
“My conversations with Notre Dame so far have been great,” Wrbanek told Irish Breakdown. “We’ve connected over the phone about once every three weeks, just reviewing how the season is going and things like that. On the last call I had with them was a call over zoom where we were reviewing my regular season film and talking about different parts of the Notre Dame defense.”
From a recruiting perspective, things have begun to heat up for the Minnesota native. He has begun to hear from a lot of schools all across various levels of college football.
“Recruiting has been going really good so far, i’ve heard from a lot of different schools ranging from Power Five (Kansas State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, Rutgers and Nebraska), as well as a few Ivy League schools (Dartmouth and Brown) and then some top FCS schools (South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Montana State),” he explained. “I’ve been attending visits at these schools over the fall.”
This will be Wrbanek’s second trip to South Bend, and first since camping this offseason. It comes with big expectations for what he’s going to see this weekend.
“I’m really excited to see the victory march and the player walk,” he said. “I've heard it’s amazing. I’m also really excited to see the energy in the stadium and all the tradition that Notre Dame has.”
With that first trip, Wrbanek had the chance to get to know the Irish staff a little bit. They impressed him with that limited first reaction.
“I really like the staff, when I was at camp the energy they had was contagious, they brought energy no matter the drill,” he stated. “I also really like how Coach (Max) Bullough, Coach (Al) Golden and Coach (Mike) Moon coached me while I was at camp. They spent time critiquing the small stuff and it helped a lot, and it showed how the program emphasized all the small details and how important they are.”
Wrbanek is coming off of a standout junior campaign for Maple Grove. The 6-3, 215-pound linebacker finished with 79 total tackles (59 solo, 20 assists) on the season. He also had seven tackles for loss and forced a fumble.
