Notre Dame is set to make the trip down to Durham, North Carolina to take on a very talented Duke team. The Blue Devils have several talented recruits set to visit for the game, which could be a big recruiting weekend for them overall.

Although they aren’t seeing the Irish team as recruits, there are a couple of targets who have an indirect chance to see the team in person. With a big performance from the Irish, there is an opportunity to impress on the road.

BIG TIME SAFETIES IN ATTENDANCE

Notre Dame is making a strong push to several North Carolina recruits in the 2025 class, which is especially true at safety. On Saturday, two safeties who are near the top of the board for the Irish will be in attendance for their away battle against Duke.

Monroe (N.C.) High School star Jordan Young is not only arguably the top safety in the 2025 class, but possibly one of the elite defenders in the class overall. The 6-0, 180-pound safety is such a good athlete that he is also being recruited by several teams as a wide receiver on the next level. Notre Dame values his explosiveness and ball skills on the defensive side currently.

Young had some early interest in the Irish, visiting South Bend this offseason. Both sides remain in contact but there hasn’t been a ton of traction over the last couple of months. Notre Dame will hope to impress Young in person for the second time this season, having also visited for their road battle against NC State a few weeks ago.

A player that the Irish staff has gained a lot of traction with recently is Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor athlete JaDon Blair. The 6-4, 180-pound defensive back had intrigue in the program initially but with two visits over the last couple of months, things have been really picking up quickly.

While Blair is not in a rush, it’s hard to not feel really good about their chances right now. He may be visiting Duke this weekend but it’s another chance for the Irish program to impress him in person.

GETTING A SECOND LOOK?

Duke is expected to host 2026 Durham (N.C.) Riverside offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko, who is potentially an elite recruit in his class. Ogboko actually visited Notre Dame for the first time this past weekend during their battle with Ohio State, although he has not been offered as of yet.

The more interesting thing to watch is whether his brother, Nnamdi Ogboko, will be making the trip with him. His older brother is a 2024 defensive tackle who is currently committed to the University of Georgia. The 6-4, 340-pound defensive lineman made the trip to Notre Dame for the first time last weekend as well.

The Notre Dame staff has been working hard on this recruitment behind the scenes over the last few weeks. Ogboko is a player the staff is pushing for. Continuing to show him the quality of Notre Dame football would be a great opportunity to make the flip happen.
