Ohio State vs. Maryland: Preview, How to Watch & Betting Odds

The Ohio State Buckeyes look to carry over their momentum from their first win in 10 games against the Maryland Terrapins Wednesday at Value City Arena.

For the first time since Jan. 21, the Ohio State Buckeyes won a game.

They got back in the win column with a 72-60 defeat of the Illinois Fighting Illini Sunday, which their next opponent, the Maryland Terrapins, also took down on Dec. 2, 2022.

The Terrapins (20-9, 11-7 Big Ten) enter play Wednesday winners of eight of their last 10 games, as they have charged up to third in the Big Ten standings and are still in contention for a share of the regular-season conference title.

Ohio State (12-17, 4-14 Big Ten) comes in quite the opposite, as it won just its third game of the calendar year against the Illini, snapping what was a nine-game losing streak.

The last time these two met, Maryland won its second Big Ten game at the Xfinity Center en route to a 10-0 record at home in conference play.

Guard Jahmir Young, who tied his career high with 30 points while hauling in 11 rebounds in the first meeting, is the conference's ninth-best scorer at 16.2 points per game.

Guard Hakim Hart provides a nice complement in the scoring column as he has scored in double figures in each of the last six contests.

Wednesday will serve as forward Justice Sueing and guards Isaac Likekele and Sean McNeil's senior nights at Value City Arena.

Head coach Chris Holtmann said Monday on his radio show he likes where Sueing's "headspace is at right now" hauling in three key offensive rebounds as part of his 14-point, 11-rebound double-double Sunday.

Sueing enters play averaging 12 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, as a potential key piece in the Buckeyes' success, as freshmen forward Brice Sensabaugh and guard Bruce Thornton have shouldered the load as of late.

Thornton scored a team-high 20 points Sunday as he's been in double figures in five of the last seven, while Sensabaugh eclipsed the 10-point scoring mark for the 26th time in 29 games this season.

Sensabaugh's thunderous dunk over Illinois forward Matthew Mayer has also been turned into a game day promotion for Wednesday's contest against the Terrapins.
