One of the top 10 running back prospects in America is set to commit late next week.

After originally planning to commit on Aug. 25, 4-star running back Caden Durham will now announced his pledge on Aug. 10, the Duncanville (TX) product announced on Twitter.

Originally from Southmoore (OK), Durham is childhood friends with Sooners' 2024 DB commit Mykel Patterson-McDonald. After Patterson-McDonald announced his pledge to OU on Monday, the Westmoore safety said he hopes to get Durham on board in Oklahoma's 2024 class.

"(Recruiting Durham and Stone) is going to be something," Patterson-McDonald said following his announcement. "Caden is hard to read, David, I can get to him every now and then. But yeah, it's going to be a good next few weeks."

Durham is currently rated as the No. 7 running back and the No. 63 overall player in the nation, according to Rivals. Listed at 5-foot-9, Durham is exceptionally fast, running a wind-aided 10.25 in the 100-meter dash.

Despite his connections to Oklahoma, it appears that Durham is likely headed to LSU, as the 4-star tailback announced that he would be changing his commitment date following a weekend trip to Baton Rouge.

Additionally, the talented ball carrier chose to be in Louisiana for the Tigers recruiting event rather than in Norman, for OU's "Party at the Palace". While this could mean nothing, given the timing of Durham's announcement, it seems that LSU is the frontrunner for the Panthers' star.

The Sooners' have two running backs already committed in the 2024 class, with Carl Albert (OK) standout Xavier Robinson announcing his pledge in late June and 5-star Longview (TX) tailback Taylor Tatum committing in late July. With Durham now off the board, it would not be surprising to see DeMarco Murray and company continue to pursue 2024 Heritage Hall (OK) athlete Andy Bass.
