On Thursday afternoon, 4-star junior linebacker Riley Pettijohn announced his top 12 schools, with Oklahoma making the cut.

The Sooners are joined by Texas, Colorado, LSU, Auburn, SMU, TCU, USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan and Florida on Pettijohn's list.

According to On3, the talented linebacker from McKinney, TX, is one of the top 30 players and top three linebackers in the 2025 class. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Pettijohn has already racked up over 30 offers, and has the chance to be a 5-star prospect by the time he is a senior.

Pettijohn is the son of former Syracuse defensive lineman Duke Pettijohn, who also spent time in the NFL.

While OU still has plenty of work to do with the McKinney High School (TX) standout, the Sooners seem to be in a good position with Pettijohn after initially offering the star defender in May.

Two weeks ago, the Dallas-area native was at the Cotton Bowl to see Oklahoma pull off a thrilling 34-30 upset victory over Texas.

Pettijohn's announcement comes just one day after 3-star 2025 linebacker Marcus James revealed his commitment date. The local athlete will make his pledge on Nov. 2 at Carl Albert High School (OK), where he will choose between Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Utah, TCU and Arkansas.

Rated one of the top 20 linebackers in the nation, according to Rivals, James would be a big addition to the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class. If Brent Venables and company are able to earn a commitment from James, the 6-foot-4 athlete would be the second defensive prospect to join OU's upcoming class alongside Lee's Summit North (MO) defensive lineman Ka'Mori Moore.
