Oklahoma Lands Local 4-star Target

In this story:
Checotah (OK) 4-star 2025 wide receiver Elijah Thomas committed to Oklahoma on Thursday night.
First and for most i’d like to thank God because without him i wouldn’t be where i’m at today and my parents for providing for me all my life, but with that being said i have committed to the university of Oklahoma!! @CoachVenables @CoachEmmett @OU_Football pic.twitter.com/EbH9qszYE4

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Thomas is one of the top 100 players and top 15 wide receivers in the 2025 class according to Rivals. The local standout chose the Sooners over Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas and others.
Thomas was in Norman at the Brent Venables Elite Camp in June, showing off his speed and downfield tracking ability. The fluid athlete easily ran by very talented defensive backs, getting open downfield with ease.
How about this rep from Checotah 2025 WR/DB Elijah Thomas (@EliThomas______) today at the Brent Venables Football Camp. #Sooners target and recent Alabama offer made multiple great plays today. Full story about all of day one’s standouts up on https://t.co/h1QmOUq2HP now. pic.twitter.com/R0AmuHa2J0

With Thomas' pledge, Brent Venables and company have secured their fourth commitment in the 2025 class. The Checotah star joins 4-star Carl Albert (OK) quarterback Kevin Sperry, 4-star Ennis (TX) wide receiver Gracen Harris and 3-star Lee's Summit North (MO) defensive lineman Ka'Mori Moore.
Thomas is the second member of a talented 2025 OK preps group to commit to OU. Despite all the talent in the state's upcoming class, Thomas is regarded as the top player in the Sooner State.
After getting off to a slow start in the 2024 recruiting class, Oklahoma's coaching staff is red hot on the recruiting trail in the 2025 cycle, landing two commitments in two days.
With such a large visitor list in Norman this weekend, there will likely be more commitments upcoming for the Sooners.
Moore even hinted at the possibility of additional commitments on his Twitter account, saying, "We just gettin warmed up," along with a photo of OU's four 2025 commits.

With multiple 2024 prospects already setting their commitment dates for the coming months and the possibility of more 2025 pledges for the Sooners, Oklahoma is in for a busy couple of weeks on the recruiting trail.
