Brent Venables and company extended a scholarship offer to 3-star 2024 QB Brendan Zurbrugg on Tuesday.

Currently committed to Northwestern, Zurbrugg is a 6-foot-4 dual-threat quarterback from Alliance, OH. The Sooners' newest QB offer is rated one of the top 20 signal callers in the 2024 class according to ESPN.

Zurbrugg was previously committed to Syracuse before flipping his pledge to the Wildcats. With the turmoil now surrounding Northwestern's football program, OU may have a chance at flipping the talented quarterback once again.

After being offered by Oklahoma, Zurbrugg now holds 10 offers, including Kent State, Akron and Toledo, among others. As a junior last season, the 3-star prospect threw for 2,184 yards and 23 touchdowns, adding 804 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

Aside from his accolades on the football field, Zurbrugg is an accomplished track athlete, running a personal best 38.16 in the 300 meter hurdles and 14.60 in the 110 meter hurdles. The Alliance High School (OH) product has been named to the All-Ohio track team twice in his career.

Given the fact that 4-star 2024 QB Michael Hawkins Jr. is already committed to the Sooners, it is interesting that Venables and company would extend an offer to another passer in the same class. Zurbrugg's offer comes less than a week after Oklahoma offered fellow 4-star 2024 quarterback Trever Jackson.

Jeff Lebby and company were also recruiting 4-star QB Samaj Jones heavily until the 2024 signal caller committed to Cincinnati at the beginning of July.

With only two scholarship quarterbacks, Hawkins Jr. and former 5-star recruit Jackson Arnold, scheduled to be on the roster in 2024, it appears that Venables is attempting to bolster his quarterback room to ensure he has a skilled passer ready to step into action no matter what.
