Oklahoma's New Wide Receivers Coach Signs 2023 WR/DB Recruit – His Son

In this story:
Oklahoma added another intriguing prospect to the 2023 recruiting class on Friday.
This one has family ties.
Emmett Jones, a wide receiver/defensive back from Cooper High School in Lubbock, TX, signed to play for the Sooners — and his dad, new wideouts coach Emmett Jones.

The elder Jones previously coached at Texas Tech, and that’s one of the schools, along with Kansas (his dad’s previous coaching stop) and Houston that had shown interest in the younger Jones.
In an interview with the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, Jones called it “a dream come true to be able to play college football, and I’ve been chasing this since I was in, like, seventh grade.
“To be with my dad at Oklahoma and go play with him and the rest of the staff, Coach Venables — I just thank them for giving me the opportunity. I’m ready to go up there and show ‘em what I can do.”
It is believed the 6-foot, 175-pound Jones will be a preferred walk-on at OU.
