Sunday Offering: Oklahoma in Contention for Three More Talented Recruits

In this story:
Brent Venables and company have been hard at work preparing for the 2023 season.
With fall camp nearly over and OU's opening contest less than two weeks away, the Sooners have not been as active extending offers to high school prospects. As the high school season kicks off, however, Oklahoma is still fighting to earn commitments from a number of recruits around the nation.
This week, three of those prospects announced their top schools, with OU among the finalists.
On Sunday, 4-star Tulsa NOAH edge rusher Danny Okoye released his top six, with Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Colorado, LSU and Oklahoma making the cut.
Okoye is rated the No. 76 overall player and No. 8 edge rusher in the country according to On3. With the nation's No. 1 defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri pledging his commitment to Missouri last Monday, earning a commitment from a highly touted local edge rusher would be a huge addition to Venables' 2024 class.
The Sooners will have to battle four future conference opponents to earn a commitment from in the in-state defender, but currently seem to be in a good spot with Okoye, according to predictions from Rivals and On3.
Landing a commitment from the 6-foot-5, 250-pound game-wrecker would certainly help OU fans stomach losing Nwaneri to the Tigers.
(Something else that could ease Sooner Nation's angst happens Saturday, when 5-star defensive tackle David Stone of Florida's IMG Academy (via Del City) will announce his commitment between OU, Michigan State, Miami, Florid and Oregon. Nwaneri's news last week only heightens the anticipation and urgency for Stone to pledge to Oklahoma.)
On Wednesday, 4-star Tulsa Union 2024 cornerback Devon Jordan announced his top five, featuring TCU, Texas A&M, Alabama, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Jordan is one of the top 30 defensive backs in the nation and one of the top four players in Oklahoma, according to 247Sports.
The next day, Union hosted a scrimmage that featured high school teams from multiple states. Of the impressive squads that competed in Tulsa, the most interesting matchup pitted the Redhawks against former OU running back turned high school coach Jamar Mozee and his daunting Lee's Summit North (MO) Broncos.
In the game, Jordan was matched up against Isaiah Mozee, Jamar's son and a fellow Sooners target. Mozee is one of the top 53 players overall and one of the top seven wide receivers in the 2025 class, per 247Sports.
Jordan performed well against Mozee, who only recorded three catches against the senior defensive back.
Mozee is one of three Broncos the Sooners' have kept an eye on. Ka'Mori Moore, a 3-star defensive lineman in the 2025 class, committed to Venables and company earlier this summer.
Moore and Mozee are also teammates with Nwaneri, who was wearing Oklahoma gloves and cleats at the scrimmage but said that he was just trying to "show love" to OU and reiterated the he is committed to Missouri.
At Carl Albert's scrimmage on Thursday night, another 2025 Sooners target was spotted wearing Oklahoma apparel. Just a few days after making news of his own, Washington (OK) 4-star tight end Nate Roberts was sporting an OU undershirt while talking to Kevin Sperry, the Sooners' 2025 quarterback commit.
Roberts performed very well against both Heritage Hall and Tuttle, easily getting open on almost every route he ran.
The nation's No. 2 tight end was committed to Notre Dame until Tuesday, when the 6-foot-4, 235-pound junior decommitted from the Irish and decided to reopen his recruitment. After spending the summer working out with Sperry and 2025 OU wide receiver commit Elijah Thomas, Roberts is reportedly leaning towards Oklahoma.
Also on Thursday, 4-star 2025 defensive back Omarion Robinson released his top 10 schools. Robinson included the Sooners in his top schools alongside Florida State, Arkansas, Oregon, Baylor, USC, Texas, Auburn, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Hailing from Parkview High School in Little Rock, the junior DB is one of the top 87 players and top 11 safeties in the country, according to Rivals.
