NORMAN – New Oklahoma assistant linebackers coach Wes Goodwin met with the media on Saturday following the Sooners’ Crimson Combine.

The event marked the end of spring practice and took the place of the traditional spring scrimmage – the Red / White Game – with an announced attendance of 16,316.

Players participated in individual and group drills, then took part in a 7-on-7 passing drill followed by a light 11-on-11 session.

Goodwin worked for a decade at Clemson under Brent Venables and nearly came to OU when the Sooners hired Venables. Goodwin described that situation and explained why now was the right time to join the Sooner staff. Goodwin also talked about his time with the Arizona Cardinals under Bruce Arians and what he learned from “BA” and why he still carries those lessons today in Norman.

Goodwin also went in depth about his linebackers, especially Kobie McKinzie and Kip Lewis, and what he thinks about the rarity that is Kendal Daniels, who he compared to a former Clemson All-American.
