Sooners Sign Top Prospect in Oklahoma

In this story:
Dayton Forsythe, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Oklahoma, made it official on Wednesday.
On the first day of the signing period, the 6-foot-3 Forsythe signed with the Sooners during a ceremony at Dale High School.
Forsythe, a 3-star 2024 point guard, committed to OU in July.
It was then that Forsythe said he had known “for a bit” that he would pick OU and Porter Moser because “it just felt like home.”
He signed with OU over offers from Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Villanova and others, and is just Moser's second in-state player, joining Ada's Kaden Cooper.
Forsythe is a tremendous athlete, excelling at both baseball and basketball. In 2022, the dual-sport phenom helped lead Dale to state titles in baseball and basketball.
Forsythe and the Pirates followed up their remarkable 2022 season with a 32-0 effort on the court during his junior year, as Dale won its second consecutive state championship in basketball.
Forsythe produced some of his best basketball on the biggest stages last season, averaging 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists and landing MVP in the 2022 Tournament of Champions, including 34, 10 and 5 in the championship game win over Class 5A Memorial, and 29 points against Oklahoma Christian Academy in the Class 2A State Championship Game.
Forsythe plays for the best of the best on the AAU circuit, joining EYBL Nike powerhouse Team Griffin, founded by former OU and OCA star Blake and Taylor Griffin.
He is a 3-star prospect, according to 247 Sports, and is the reigning VYPE Oklahoma Mr. Basketball Player of the Year from last season.
He was the Sooners’ first verbal commitment in the 2024 class.
