Ole Miss Rebels, Lane Kiffin Add Ex-NFL Coach Joe Judge to Staff

Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin added another experienced football mind to his staff on Wednesday.

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss Rebels made another addition to their football staff on Wednesday, and Lane Kiffin has once again expanded his coaching tree with an experienced veteran who has worked with some of the greatest minds in the sport.

According to reports from On3, the Rebels have hired former NFL head coach and assistant Joe Judge. Judge was most recently an assistant head coach for the New England Patriots in 2023, after previously being an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach under Bill Belichick in 2022. Most football fans remember Judge for his brief head coaching stint with the New York Giants from 2020-21. Judge was fired after posting a 10-23 record.

Before Judge worked with the greatest coach in professional football history, he served as a special teams assistant for the Alabama Crimson Tide under Nick Saban from 2009-11. Judge spent one season with the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in 2008, serving as the team’s special teams/linebackers coach. Judge started his coaching career with the Mississippi State Bulldogs as a graduate assistant from 2005-07. He suited up for State from 2000-04 and earned three varsity letters.

Judge will be joining another former Bulldog on Kiffin’s staff in 2024, as the Rebels hired ex-Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett to serve as an assistant in March. On top of Arnett, Kiffin has also added NFL veteran Mike Williams, SMU Senior Director of Scouting Alex Brown, and former Texas Longhorn Billy Glasscock.
