Oregon's A'Lique Terry Gives Exciting Assessment of Immanuel Iheanacho and Tommy Tofi

The Oregon Ducks landed some elite offensive lineman in the 2026 high school recruiting class led by offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho and interior offensive lineman Tommy Tofi. Ducks offensive line coach A’Lique Terry spoke about those two and chances they have to carve out roles on this 2026 squad.

Terry has been the offensive line coach for the Ducks since 2023 on coach Dan Lanning’s staff, and he was also in Eugene as an Oregon graduate assistant a few years prior. Terry spoke to reporters on Monday on if Iheanacho and Tofi have a chance to get in the starting lineup as true freshmen this season.

“No doubt…Speaking to Manny and Tommy, they have come out hitting the ground running. They’re both, like I said earlier in spring, physically gifted,” Terry said. “They love the game. They’re constantly with each other…They know their role could end up being much larger later on. As much as they put in it, could maybe happen earlier. Who knows.”

Terry added that the two have done a great job absorbing all that the coaching staff has thrown at them so far. Terry also cited the fact that current Ducks offensive lineman Iapani “Poncho” Laloulu was playing a key role for Oregon when he was a freshman. Terry has seen freshman start on the offensive line for Oregon before and it doesn’t sound like he’d be surprised if that ends up happening this season.

The Ducks offensive line coach specifically touched on how he's seen Tofi grow since arriving on campus:

“Honestly, it’s the stuff off the field. He’s done a tremendous job with his body still got to get in shape. Obviously, he’s a young kid. He shed a lot of weight, put a lot of muscle on, and he’s gotten a real good understanding of the offense. Where the rest of it is going to start slowly and naturally going to start to come with repetition and film work, but to see his commitment, especially as a young freshman.”

Immanuel Iheanacho is a 6-6, 345 pound offensive tackle out of Baltimore, Maryland. Rivals rated him as a five-star recruit and ranked him as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the class of 2026. He was ranked as the No. 7 overall recruit in the country.

Furthermore, Iheancho was Oregon’s highest rated recruit with a Rivals rating of 98.32.

Tommy Tofi is a 6-6, 340 pound interior offensive lineman out of Sacramento, California. He was rated as a four-star recruit and ranks as the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the country per Rivals.

Overall, Iheanacho and Tofi are two of the 23 commits in Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class. This class is ranked by Rivals as the No. 5 overall class in the country and the No. 3 class in the Big Ten conference. The two Big Ten foes with a higher ranked 2026 class are the USC Trojans at No. 1 and the Ohio State Buckeyes at No. 4.

Under coach Dan Lanning, Oregon has made a habit of having one of the highest ranked recruiting classes in the nation. That didn’t stop with the 2026 class and it doesn’t appear to be stopping with the 2027 class either.

Oregon’s 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 4 in the county and No.1 in the Big Ten with 24 total commits. 16 of these commits are ranked as either four or five star recruits. Will the Ducks end up landing another top five class?
