Oregon Ducks Battling Texas Longhorns for 4-Star Wide Receiver Recruit

In this story:
The Oregon Ducks are in the middle of spring practice, but the process of continuing to build the 2027 recruiting class isn't slowing down as the offseason treads on.
Oregon has steadily added commits in the 2027 cycle and could now be on the verge of adding its first wide receiver of the class. But in order to do so, the Ducks will have to fend off some elite competition on the recruiting trail, most notably the Texas Longhorns.
Oregon, Texas Finalists for Four-Star Wide Receiver Julian Caldwell

Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, Oregon is one of five finalists for 2027 four-star wide receiver Julian Caldwell, who is being coveted by some of the top programs in college football.
The other four finalists are Texas, Notre Dame, Texas Tech and SMU. Caldwell, a product of Argyle, TX, has sights set on staying in his home state but it's clear that being far away from home in Eugene isn't swaying him away from having interest in the Ducks.
Caldwell has also received offers from teams like Miami, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Penn State, USC, Tennessee and many more.
He has official visits lined up with SMU (May 1), Texas Tech (June 5), Oregon (June 12) and Texas (June 19). He also previously took an unofficial visit with Texas A&M in September.
During the 2024 and 2025 season, Caldwell combined to post 115 catches for 2,318 yards and 27 touchdowns, which included 20 receiving scores during his sophomore year in 2025.
Oregon Has Offered Some Elite 2027 Wide Receivers

The Ducks have offered a slew of talented wide receivers in the 2027 class, with Caldwell being among the most notable.
Oregon has extended offers to five-star wide receivers like Nick Lennear (Miami commit), Easton Royal (Texas commit), Monshun Sales (undecided), Easton Royal (Texas commit), Dakota Guerrant (undecided) and Eric McFarland III among others.
The Ducks previously held a commitment from 2027 four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, but he decommitted this past September before choosing the Tennessee Volunteers instead last month.
Oregon's 2027 Recruiting Class

Though the Ducks might not have as many total commits as some other programs at this point in the 2027 cycle. Oregon still has some impressive talent to build around. The overall commitment number is certain to grow as the offseason continues.
So far, the Ducks have landed verbal commitments from four-star talents like defensive lineman Zane Rowe, edge rusher Cameron Pritchett and running back CaDarius McMiller along with three-star players like offensive tackle Avery Mitchell and linebacker Sam Ngata.
Rowe and McMiller are both Texas natives. The Ducks have already shown that they can competitively recruit in the Lone Star State, with star wide receiver Dakorien Moore being one of the most notable and recent examples.
Until further notice, it's tough to rule out the possibility of Oregon being able to bring Caldwell to Eugene.
