What Dan Lanning Said Before No. 13 Oregon Ducks vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

In this story:
We are just over 48 hours away from kickoff between the No. 13 Oregon Ducks and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning met with reporters in Eugene following Wednesday's practice to give his final updates before the week 2 showdown in the Lone Star State.
Below you'll find a full transcription of what was said during Lanning's Wednesday media avaialbility.
Opening Statement: "Two really good prep days for our guys so far. Excited about their temperament and their mood. I know they're pumped and excited for this game. Really clean. We're about to go play a team that's gonna be in a hostile environment, which we're excited about."
Question: How do you feel about the coverage by the linebackers and the pass coverage this past week and this week in practice?
Lanning: "I don't think we really got tested this past week--I mean they didn't throw the ball very much. But we've done well. At times there were a couple plays that we wish we had back."
Question: You mentioned on Monday wanting to work on jump balls for the defensive backs in terms of defending that. Have you seen progress there and kind of that matchup?
Lanning: "Yeah we've worked a lot of contested balls. I think it's gonna come down to a lot of contested catches in this game. We gotta do a good job when it comes to that."

Question: It looks like Jurrion (Dickey) has been kind of playing that (Jerand) Bradley role for the scout team. How's he doing there?
Lanning: "He's done a good job. He's done a good job. He's double training. He's working his position for us and he's working that position for them as well."
Question: You guys find anybody to give you a look for (Mason) Tharp their 6'9" tight end?
Lanning: "I haven't found a 6'9" guy yet. Again, we're preparing with the guys we got. We got plenty of good players that can help us get ready."
Question: You mentioned the environment. The conditions, weather-wise. Is this the kind of game where who's gritty and who has to take a look in the mirror?
Lanning: "This is the kind of game where you can't just show up one game. This has to be who you are all year. We want to be the same team that we've been all year and focus on what we're gonna be moving forward. You are who you put on film. No matter if it's this game, the next game or the game after that, who you are has to show up every game. Your DNA traits have to show up every game."

Question: Part of that environment, how do you feel about tortillas?
Lanning: "I'm a tortilla fan. More of a flour guy than corn."
Question: What's your guys' schedule like over the next couple days? How are you gonna kinda deal with the heat once you get down there?
Lanning: "Same prep as every week. We're focusing on hydrating for our guys. Not a lot of changes there."
Question: You a big believer in elevation factors into conditioning or anything like that?
Lanning: "I think the biggest place it shows up is in the kicking game. There will be some of that. As far as their conditioning I think that our guys are well-conditioned. We'll see that when we get there to the game. But more than anything it's gonna show up for distances in the kicking game."
