5-Star Cornerback Kobe Black Announces Final Five Schools

2024 Waco (Tex.) Connally cornerback Kobe Black is taking the next step in his recruitment.

On Wednesday, he announced his top five schools, and Oregon made the cut.

Black's full list also includes the LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies.

Listed at 6'0", 190 pounds, he's made a name for himself as not only one of the best recruits in the Lone Star State, but also the entire country.

The 247Sports Composite rates Black a consensus five-star (0.9871) recruit. He's ranked the No. 24 player nationally, the No. 3 cornerback and the No. 6 recruit in Texas.

Black is a well-traveled recruit and has taken visits all over the country this year. He made it out to Eugene for an unofficial visit with the Oregon Ducks in June. It sounds like the Ducks made a solid impression during that trip, as he suggested he will return for an official visit.

Oregon has two cornerback commitments in 2024 after flipping Dakoda Fields from the USC Trojans earlier this week. The Gardena (Calif.) Serra defensive back is joined by Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy standout Ify Obidegwu in Demetrice Martin's haul this cycle.

The Ducks signed five cornerbacks from the high school ranks last cycle and even brought in two more from the transfer portal ahead of the 2023 season, so they aren't short of numbers at the position.

I recently wrote that College of San Mateo cornerback Sione Laulea, who also placed Oregon in his top five schools, is likely the priority target at the position moving forward. While Black is viewed as a heavy Texas lean, I'm sure the Ducks are going to stay involved in this recruitment as long as they can.

Oregon has the No. 10 recruiting class in the country for 2024 according to the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.
