The 6-foot-2, 183-pound defensive back recently tripped out to Oregon for their Saturday Night Live camp and discussed why he chose to take the visit.
"Really just 'cause last season I only played four games so coming back, I had to go prove something," he said. "I had to go prove who I was still, so I went out there to the camp just to show my skills and show my skill set, how I get down."
There are a few things that have his eyes on the Ducks.
"They got a top-notch facility up there and I just love to work. The facilities, Coach (Rashad) Wadood's been a big inspiration to me too. Talking to him every day, we had a conversation. That's just a really big part of my recruitment right now. Coach Wadood."
His first recruiting to Eugene was a memorable one that allowed him to get a better grasp of what Oregon has to offer. One aspect in particular stood out.
"Really the family feel," Rubin said. "After the camp we stayed and we got to watch the fight on the big jumbotron with the whole team so it was really like family. I love that about Oregon."
Rubin said he doesn't have a leader but is thinking about committing in mid-October.
"I'm thinking about chopping it down within the next two months to a top four."
His recruitment has been dominated by West Coast schools and there's a small group on him the hardest.
"I'd say Oregon, USC, UNLV and Washington."
He's yet to take an official visit, but plans to start those soon.
"Right now I haven't taken any OV's," he said. "I've just been waiting, holding it off. I'm taking OVs this fall."
So far three schools are in a good spot to get an official visit from him.
"USC, UNLV and Oregon for sure."
Rubin has been recruited by the hometown school USC and spoke about his interest in the Trojans.
"Coach Donte (Williams) really. And my Pops. My Pops has always been a big USC since he was a kid so I'm definitely leaning towards USC because of him."
He's built an affection for the Rebels after living in Sin City.
"That was like my second home--living in Vegas for about eight years," he said. "Played most of my high school ball out there so it's like my second home. That's always going to be a part of me. The DB coach there, I just love him. He's just amazing. Amazing dude to be around."
As he works toward his decision he's prioritizing a couple of factors.
"Really be a family. I come down there I gotta have a family feel. Somewhere I'll be comfortable at, somewhere I can see myself spending the next four years there."
