2024 Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea running back Jason Brown Jr. has been closely linked to Oregon for a long time.

Ducks Digest checked in with him at the Elite 11 to get the latest in his recruitment.

The 5-foot-9, 188-pound ball carrier took a recent unofficial visit to Oregon last month and will take his official visit to Michigan State this weekend.

He has some other official visits that he's hoping to lock in.

"I want to get out to U Dub (Washington). I want to get out to Oregon. I want to go out to Louisville, Arizona, but Michigan State's the only confirmed one right now."

Aside from official visits, it sounds like he plans to be back at Oregon this summer.

"I'm heading out to Oregon for Saturday Night Live. I'll be out to Eugene soon."

As he heads out to East Lansing this weekend, he spoke about his interest in the Spartans.

"Relationships really," he said of what stands out. "They've been super consistent with hitting me up since my freshman year. I went up there for an unofficial, had a great time. Good campus life and even the last year might not have been the most winningest season, but I know what they're capable of as a coaching staff and as a program."

Washington has also remained involved after a strong first year under Kalen DeBoer. Brown spoke about why the Huskies are contenders.

"Home. I was born and raised in Seattle. I'm a city kid," he said. "Growing up watching U Dub, being around U Dub. Wearing that purple and gold was a dream of mine growing up.  They win a lot of games. Explosive offense, they score a lot of points. Probably have three or four guys from that offense going to the NFL next year."

He has 23 reported scholarship offers, but a small group of schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

"I'd say Oregon first. I talk to them almost every day. Super consistent communication. Coach Lock (Carlos Locklyn) and Coach (Dan) Lanning, guys that are usually at the top of my text list when it comes to checking, see who's talking to me.

"Michigan State's really heavy in communicating, Louisville's really heavy in communicating. Arizona's been amping it up. U Dub. Oregon State here and there."

The Seattle native was in Eugene for a recent unofficial visit and enjoyed the trip.

"It was just like an elite prospect day. There were some five-stars there. I think it was like seven or eight recruits. Even that, taking the time to invite me too that shows a lot. Shows where I am on their board and just the consistent communication. It was my Mom's first time going out there, she fell in love with the place."

With Oregon having recruited him for so long, what's different about the Ducks now?

"Just the relationship, it continues to grow and grow. They've really grown with me and seen me develop as a person, more than just a football player. It's just on more of a personal level. Which I take into huge account when it comes to where I want to be because quite frankly these are gonna be the men that I want to invite to my wedding.

"Having that type of relationship with them and feeling like I can lean on those people as a father figure, uncle figure, grandfather figure, whatever you may say. That's really important to me and I feel like Oregon's done a good job of building that trust with me."

Brown doesn't sound like he's closing in on a decision with more official visits expected in the fall and he gave the latest on his timeline.

"Really just basing it off of feel. Sooner than later preferably. I want to be able to lock it in so I can get acclimated with the playbook, get acclimated with the other guys, start helping recruiting. Sooner than later for sure. Maybe before the season, maybe during the season. Wherever the timing fits. I plan on taking the OVs in the fall. I'll take my Oregon OV in the fall and then we'll figure it out from there."
