The transfer portal is set to open on Monday December 4 and one Oregon player isn't wasting any time.

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Ashton Cozart plans to enter the transfer portal. He announced his decision over social media Wednesday evening.

"I am grateful for the short time I spent at the University of Oregon. However, after having discussions with my family and mentors, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal," he wrote in an Instagram post. "I have four years of eligibility left and I am excited to see where my next opportunity will take me."

Cozart is a true freshman that did not appear in a game during the regular season in 2023.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound wide receiver signed with Oregon as a four-star (0. 9168 per 247Sports Composite) recruit in the 2023 class. He was formerly committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, but Junior Adams and the Ducks were able to bring him back home to the Pacific Northwest, where he’s originally from.

He’s the first Oregon player to enter the transfer portal and was in line to compete for snaps in 2023 with the Ducks set to lose Troy Franklin to the NFL Draft. The Ducks signed five pass catchers in the 2023 class including wide receivers Jurrion Dickey, Gary Bryant Jr. (USC), Traeshon Holden (Alabama), and tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
