Penn State released its second round of good virus-testing news and picked up its first commitment for the 2021 recruiting class in more than two months.

Penn State announced that no student-athletes have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the six weeks since football players began returning. The next round of testing results will be released July 29.

Jamari Buddin, a 4-star linebacker from Michigan, became the 13th player to commit to Penn State's 2021 recruiting class.

Speaking of recruiting, SI All-American announced the watch list for its All-American Team. More than 1,000 high school players will be considered. This week we looked at Penn State's candidates.

Is Penn State still "dominating the state" in recruiting?

College football watch-list season kicked into gear last week, even though the game itself is on a watch list. Penn State players landed on several preseason awards lists, including two for tight end Pat Freiermuth.

Athletic director Sandy Barbour hasn't been shy about praising coach James Franklin. But in an appearance on Big Ten Network, Barbour called Franklin "the best college football coach on the planet."

Regarding Penn State's athletic finances, Barbour said that pay cuts within the department are "probably unavoidable."

Does Franklin think the college football season will happen? He addressed the question on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast.

The State College Quarterback Club has enjoyed exclusive access to Penn State football coaches since 1941. This year, the club is taking its weekly luncheons online, giving you a chance to Zoom with Franklin.

Penn State's Jonathan Sutherland received a letter last year that called his dreadlocks "disgusting." He recently discussed why he kept that letter.
