NCAA Basketball: Former Purdue Star Caleb Swanigan Dead at 25

The college basketball morns the loss of the former Purdue Boilmaker.

Former Purdue standout and NBAer Caleb Swanigan has died at the age of 25, the team announced on social media. 

"Our thoughts and prayers to Caleb Swanigan's family and friend," the post read. "The world lost a gentle soul last night."

Swanigan played for the Boilermakers from 2016-2017 before declaring for the NBA Draft. He was selected by the Portland Trailblazers. He did not play in the NBA since 2019. 

The Homestead, Indiana star lead Homestead to their first and only state title in 2015 and was named Indiana's Mr. Basketball. 

According to the Allen County Coroner's Office, Swanigan died of natural causes. 

Swanigan experienced homeless as a child and put his efforts to helping those experiencing the same. In 2019, he released music and helped organize a fundraiser for homelessness.
