There's been plenty of buzz surrounding defensive backs this offseason who played their college ball at the University of South Carolina, with Darius Rush and Cam Smith both set to be drafted next month and Gamecock alum Stephon Gilmore being traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Dallas Cowboys. Former Gamecock star Jaycee Horn will soon be joining that group, as he's currently working back from a broken wrist he suffered last December versus the Detroit Lions.

While training in Atlanta recently, GamecocksDigest caught up with the former All-SEC cornerback to get his thoughts on the state of South Carolina's Football program. Needless to say, Horn likes what Shane Beamer is doing in Columbia.

"They're turning it around. Obviously, I'm a big fan of Coach [Will] Muschamp and [Travaris Robinson], but I'm also a fan of Coach Beamer, the energy he's bringing [into] the building, and just talking to guys I played with in college that played under Beamer and Muschamp, they love Beamer," Jaycee stated. "They say there's just so much love around the building, and it's paying off."

A noted difference between former South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp and current Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer is their coaching styles, with Beamer being described more so as a players' coach that relates to his team on a level that goes beyond the football field.

"The pressure is decreased," Horn explained. "[When] guys [are] playing under a players coach, it just makes you want to play so much harder and run through a wall."

Jaycee was then asked about what drew him to South Carolina, being a blue chip prospect coming out of high school, and how the program can develop other players like him. According to Horn, high school players with ambition have everything they would need in Columbia.

"First of all, being in the SEC is a plus wherever you play, and then [in] Columbia, it's just that fanbase, they [are] behind you. They're gonna be hard on you when you're not playing well, and I feel like all of that is what drew me to South Carolina," Horn conveyed. "South Carolina is a highly attractive school for any recruit. If you wanna go there and get it done, you definitely can."
