CBS Sports Lists Spencer Rattler As A Potential First-Round Pick

CBS Sports named South Carolina Football player Spencer Rattler as a quarterback who could play his way into the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

With the 2023 NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, analysts have already begun discussing and speculating about the 2024 Draft. CBS Sports recently released an article naming seven college football quarterbacks who could play themselves into the first-round conversation in next year's NFL draft with big upcoming seasons.

Among the many excellent quarterbacks on the list, South Carolina's Spencer Rattler was listed as a potential first-round pick. At one point in time, many fans and experts believed Rattler was a sure-fire first-round pick, but the end of his stint with Oklahoma has left many believing otherwise. Rattler had the option to enter the draft after this past season but chose to stay at South Carolina for another year to boost his draft stock, among many other reasons.

Few ball-throwers in the country are more talented than Rattler, yet inconsistent play through his time in college leaves many front-office executives questioning Rattler's future in the NFL. The 22-year-old QB threw for over 3000 yards and 18 touchdowns this past season, a step in the right direction for the signal-caller, but still leaving those at the next level yearning for more.

Though he started the year slow, he got into a groove late in the season, helping lead the Gamecocks to big wins over Tennessee and Clemson. With a revamped offense and more time to gel with his weapons, there is reason to believe Rattler could be in for a big season.

The Gamecocks will be rolling with a new offensive coordinator this upcoming season in Dowell Loggains. Many people in Columbia are optimistic that Loggains, who has significant experience in the NFL, can help better prepare Rattler for the league and revolve the offensive scheme around his skillset. Reports from South Carolina's spring practices suggest that the two have developed a connection, which could be imperative to Rattler's draft stock in the upcoming draft.
