2026 In-State WR Donovan Murph Left 'Speechless' Receiving Offer From South Carolina

South Carolina's Football program is getting an early jump on in-state prospects for the 2026 class, including Irmo High School's Donovan Murph.

Throughout the past two decades, the state of South Carolina has produced a bevy of talented wide receiver prospects, many of whom have gone on to play for the Gamecocks, including Xavier Legette, Deebo Samuel, Alshon Jeffery, Sidney Rice, Bryan Edwards, Shi Smith, and many others who went on to play for other Power 4 schools. The 2026 crop of wide receivers from the Palmetto State has the potential to be the best group we've seen in a while.

Multiple 2026 wide receivers received offers from the home state Gamecocks back in mid-December, including Irmo High School star Donovan Murph, who helped lead the Yellow Jackets to the 4A Lower State Finals in the South Carolina High School League Playoffs in late November. I reached out to Murph last week to get his thoughts on the offer, and he told me he was "speechless because [he] worked hard to get here" and that to see it unfold was just "a Blessing."

Shane Beamer's staff has always prided themselves on being relationship-builders with their high school targets, and they seem to be off to a great start with Donovan, who calls his conversations with them "great," saying everyone, especially wide receivers coach Justin Stepp and tight ends coach Jody Wright "show me love."

Regarding his skillset, Murph thinks he's a" smooth route runner" who knows "how to create separation and get open when I need to which comes with time and understanding leverages." Regarding his future plans, the rising junior intends to be in town soon to take in a junior day to "get a feel for the whole campus." He's been to Williams-Brice already for a couple of games, recalling it being "a great environment between the fans and the players."
