Which Recruits Does Travian Robertson Need To Contact?

The new defensive tackles coach for South Carolina's Football program, Travian Robertson, has a few specific recruits he'll need to prioritize from the jump.

Travian Robertson got to have his official homecoming, if you will, on Tuesday afternoon when he spoke to the local media about how happy he was to be back at South Carolina and how much he was ready to give back to the players like his coaches did for him during his playing days. One thing that's unique about Robertson's return is the timing of the hire, as Shane Beamer noted before Travian went to the podium, that replacing coaches after Spring practice isn't a usual occurrence, meaning the North Carolina native will be thrusted right into the responsibility that arguably holds the highest importance to SEC coaches, recruiting.

"He spent some time with Taylor Edwards [On Tuesday] getting up to speed on our personnel, the guys that we're recruiting," Beamer explained. "Then we'll be able to get him out on the road - he'll hit the ground running when it comes to recruiting."

While currently an evaluation period, meaning coaches are traveling all across the country to prospective recruits' high schools, there's a few prospects in particular where quickly forming a relationship should hold a high priority for the Gamecocks new defensive tackles coach.

2025 DT Elijah Griffin

Elijah Griffin is by far the biggest name Jimmy Lindsey was recruiting at the time of his departure for LSU, and with the home-state Georgia Bulldogs pushing hard for the Savannah native, Travian will have to make sure he doesn't wait long to visit the 5-star product, in order to prevent South Carolina from losing any momentum.

2025 DT Amare Adams

South Carolina's Football staff have made recruiting their home state a significant priority over the past few cycles, and that's continued with Lake City High School's Amare Adams. The rising junior has already visited Columbia six times, and with his close proximity to the school, should be one of the first targets Coach Robertson pays a visit to.

2024 DL Jordan Thomas

As far as the current recruiting cycle is concerned, Thomas seems to be the biggest target on the interior defensive linemen. Thomas was recent in town for the Gamecocks annual Garnet and Black Spring Game and is planning to officially visit South Carolina on the weekend of June 23rd-25th, but with his primary recruiter having gone elsewhere, Travian shouldn't wait long to quell any questions the New Jersey native may have.
