Where Will Fred Johnson Commit?

In Shane Beamer's short time in Columbia, South Carolina's Football program has done quite well in the Summer months when it comes to recruiting. With the Gamecocks already set at multiple offensive positions, more attention has been put toward the defensive side of the ball, where Clayton White and the defensive coaching staff hope to secure more talent at all three levels.

One of their targets at the linebacker position is Fred Johnson, a 6'3, 225 lbs. Maury High School out of Norfolk, VA. Johnson is a camp gem that South Carolina discovered around two weeks ago, as he turned eyes with some of his testing numbers and eventually landed himself an offer on June 2nd. Fred then subsequently took an official visit to Columbia this past weekend, conveying how quickly the mutual interest had grown between both parties.

Johnson hasn't released any top group to this point in the recruiting process but does possess multiple other Power 5 offers from schools like Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Maryland, and Duke. However, due to how quickly everything progressed between Fred Johnson and South Carolina, I fully expect the Virginia native to be a Gamecock should he still commit today, with the time and method with which he'll do so being unknown.
