Four games were on the slate on Wednesday in Round Two of the Phillips Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship in Kansas City. In the early games, the two higher seeds – No. 5 BYU and No. 8 TCU – advanced to the quarterfinals. BYU and No. 12 UCF, both playing in their first-ever Big 12 tournament, got the day started. This game was all BYU. UCF kept it close, but, in the end, this game had the biggest margin of victory of any of the four games in Round Two. BYU won 87-73.

TCU took care of business with No. 9 Oklahoma. The Horned Frogs went ahead 3-1 with 19:06 left in the first and never relinquished a lead after that. TCU led 45-31 at the half and, despite a late surge by the Sooners, won 77-70.

In the first game of the evening session, Kansas State was down by 10 points to Texas at the half. They came out in the 2nd and just started chipping away. The Cats would take the lead with 12:34 remaining. From there, even with a couple of lead changes, K-State would maintain the momentum and win 78-74.

Kansas was playing without two of its leading scorers, but Cincinnati was also without a couple of key players. The Bearcats dominated the entire game and got the upset over the Jayhawks 72-52.
