TCU Men's Basketball Bounces Back with Win Over Oklahoma State

The Horned Frogs overcame their largest deficit in a win on Tuesday marking just the fourth time TCU has won in Stillwater in program history.

TCU had a tough time closing out games last week, resulting in losses to Cincinnati and Iowa State. On Tuesday, the team would face more adversity trailing by as many as 17 points against an Oklahoma State team looking for its first conference win of the season. A strong second half by the Horned Frogs (14-5, 3-3) vaulted them to a 74-69 victory over the Cowboys (8-11, 0-6).

OSU jumped out to a 22-8 lead and eventually stretched the lead to 17 thanks to a Bryce Thompson three to make it 33-16. With just under six minutes to go in the first half, TCU went on a 14-2 run to cut the lead to four. A three-pointer by Emanuel Miller gave the Frogs a 42-39 advantage early in the second half. From that point forward, there were seven ties and eight lead changes.

All knotted up at 61, a three by Avery Anderson III put TCU back in front at 64-61 with seven minutes to go. The Frogs led the rest of the way as the Cowboys were held without a field goal for the final six minutes.

It was a homecoming game for Anderson, who spent the last four seasons in Stillwater. The transfer guard finished with a season-high 15 points on 6-9 shooting to go with three rebounds and four assists.

Miller led all TCU scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds. It was the 16th double-double of his career, and he moved to 34th all-time in TCU scoring with 1,059 points. It was also an efficient game for Micah Peavy who had 16 points on four misses.

The big story last week was the turnovers after ending with 27 in the loss against Iowa State. On Tuesday, they dropped that number to nine. They also out-rebounded OSU by a wide margin of 10 (38-28).

It was certainly a get-right game for this TCU squad going up against a struggling Oklahoma State team. This conference is chaos, so every win is extremely important, especially on the road. They'll look to make it two in a row on Saturday in a big road matchup against No. 15 Baylor at 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
