Darnell Wright's First-Round Hype Continues

Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright had a big week at the Reese's Senior Bowl and is getting first-round attention from several analysts.

Offensive tackle Darnell Wright has had a big week at the Reese's Senior Bowl. He's had several impressive practice reps that have made rounds on social media but, more importantly, has been a steadying presence on the edge.

Wright seems to be one of the event's biggest risers. Few mock drafts had him within the first 50 picks, but Wright has seen his name rise into first-round conversations within the past few days.

Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum heaped praise on Wright during the Senior Bowl telecast, saying he's what franchises look for in a tackle prospect. Furthermore, PFFs Trevor Sikemma gave him a glowing review.

"If you need an offensive tackle in the back of the first round, he can be your guy."

Wright had an excellent season at right tackle for the Volunteers. Quarterback Hendon Hooker had one of the top seasons in college football, and a big reason for that was that his right side was clean.

Some consistency things can be ironed out in Wright's game, but he has no glaring limitations that should keep him out of the first round. His Senior Bowl performance backs that up, and we should hear even more from him in the coming months.
