Austin Goosby Stats, Highlights From McDonald's All-American Game

The Texas Longhorns men's basketball team saw its season come to a heartbreaking end in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament but fans got a chance to see a glimpse at the program's future only a few days later.

Texas four-star guard Austin Goosby participated in the annual McDonald's All-American Game on Tuesday night at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ., helping lead the West team to a 102-86 win over the East.

Goosby joins a long list of 24 other Longhorns that have been named McDonald's All-Americans, most recently Tre Johnson in 2024.

Goosby had been putting on a show in the McDonald's All-American practices leading up to the game but he didn't quite get a chance to show off his offensive capabilities on a national stage Tuesday night.

Goosby finished with six points, two rebounds, one assist and two steals on 3 of 4 shooting, according to the box score. He came off the bench and was held scoreless in the first half before coming alive after halftime.

All three of his buckets came in transition, which was highlighted by an alley-oop dunk on a lob from Missouri signee Jason Crowe Jr.

To put it simply, Goosby didn't have the ball in his hands much, but still made the most of it with a pair of highlight slams. Don't expect that to remain the case during his freshman season at Texas later this November.

Though Goosby had a quiet scoring night by his standards, Texas head coach Sean Miller already made it clear earlier this season how valuable he will be to the program moving forward.

"Austin Goosby as a person, as a student, the family that he comes from, the winning pedigree that he brings to the table and obviously the talented basketball player that he is, he was a priority for us almost on the day that I got here as the new head coach," Miller said.

Goosby signed with Texas in November and will now join his older brother and star Longhorns offensive tackle, Trevor, on campus in a matter of months. The siblings will be prominent faces on their respective teams this fall, both looking to reach some championship-level expectations.
