No. 11 Texas vs. Mississippi State Live Updates, Observations and Box Score

In this story:
AUSTIN -- The No. 11 Texas Longhorns host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday night at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, hoping to keep their momentum rolling after a heart-pounding win over Ole Miss last Saturday.
Texas is looking to continue its offensive improvement from a week ago, in a game in which Raleek Brown and Michael Terry dominated in the running game, and Arch Manning looked to be returning to form in the passing game.
Despite three turnovers from Manning, and a season-ending injury to star left tackle from Trevor Goosby, the Longhorns were able to rack up over 400 yards of total offense, inclusing more than 200 yards on the ground.
On the other side of the ball, the Texas defense had Heisman Trophy hopeful Trinidad Chambliss and star running back Kewan Lacy in a blender, forcing Chambliss below 50 percent passing, for the first time in his Ole Miss career. They also forced a career-worst three interceptions of the star QB.
Meanwhile, Mississippi State comes to Austin without the services of their own star quarterback, Kamario Taylor, who was lost to a season-ending injury.
Taking over for Taylor will be journeyman backup QB AJ Swann, who spent time at Vanderbilt, LSU, and Appalachain State, before making his way to Starkville. In good news for the Bulldogs, their star running back Fluff Bothwell is set to see his second-straight week of action after returning last week against Oklahoma.

1st Quarter
Texas Drive 1: Arch Manning got the drive going with a huge explosive play to Cam Coleman on 3rd and 9 to get the ball into Missisippi State territory. On the very next play, he hit Coleman again for a score, putting Texas up 7-0.
Observations: This was a major confidence booster for Cam Coleman, who has struggled to get in the groove of things over the past few weeks. Coleman finished the drive with two catches for 61 yards, including the 47-yard explosive.

change of possession
Mississippi State Drive 1: Mississippi State got going quickly with a pass for a first down from Swann. The Texas defense stifled them from there, however, forcing a punt.
Observation: The Texas defense looked solid on drive one after giving up the early first down. Swann does not have the ability to extend plays like Taylor, which plays to Texas' advantage.
change of possession
Texas Drive 2: Texas went three and out on its next possession.
change of possession
Mississippi State Drive 2: Swann faced a third down with pressure in his face, but was able to extend the drive with a first down pass. Texas then got the Bulldogs into a 4th-and-3 at the Longhorns 42, with State electing to go for it. A false start derailed chance to go for it, forcing the punt.
Observation: Another great job by the Texas defense to get off the field. It is now up to the offense to get something together, and attempt to get the ground game going.
change of possession
Texas Drive 3: Another three and out for the Texas offense.
Observations: The Texas offense is showing signs of what plagued it before the Ole Miss game. They are struggling early to run the football, and it is causing a ripple effect in the passing game.
