Brett Hundley will get another shot at NFL snaps, this time in the AFC.

After Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz left practice with a foot injury Thusrday, the former UCLA signal-caller agreed to join the team's roster Saturday. This will be Hundley's fourth NFL destination since being picked by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hundley served as the backup to Aaron Rodgers for three seasons before leaving to back up Russell Wilson on the Seattle Seahawks and eventually Kyler Murray on the Arizona Cardinals.

For now, Hundley slots in to the Colts' depth chart beside Texas rookie Sam Ehlinger, second-year Georgia and Washington product Jacob Eason and former undrafted free agent Jalen Morton.

The 2014 All-Pac-12 Second Team honoree brings a veteran presence to the quarterback room, a role that was previously held by Wentz prior to his injury. None of the other three active quarterbacks have taken a snap as a pro.

Hundley, on the other hand, has played in 18 games across his stints with the Packers, Seahawks and Cardinals. He has completed 199 of 337 his pass attempts for 1,902 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Also known for his mobility, he has rushed for 309 yards and two touchdowns.

With Wentz slated to miss at least the entire preseason, this is debatably the 28-year-old's best chance to start in the NFL since 2017. Hundley started nine games for Green Bay that season when Rodgers went down with an injury, managing to put up a career-best 70.6 passer rating as his team went 3-6 in those contests.

Starting practice for the team Saturday wearing No. 3, the veteran could likely take the brunt of the Colts' first-team reps heading into the preseason. While Indianapolis has yet to name a starter or update its official depth chart since signing Hundley, being a veteran quarterback on a team with no other experienced options certainly sets him up well for early preseason action.

Hundley and the Colts will get their preseason started Aug. 15 against the Carolina Panthers at 10 a.m.
