UCLA Football: Dante Moore Sought Advice from Former Bruins QB Mid-Game

Taking the reins.

UCLA Bruins freshman QB Dante Moore responded well from his previous outing against 13th-ranked Washington State this past weekend.

The Detroit native-turned-current UCLA signal caller can thank the Bruins' previous starter-turned-NFL pro for some advice during bounce-back his game against the Cougars, a 25-17 Bruins win on Saturday.

Moore struggled against Utah as the first ranked opponent in his young career after the Bruins offense remained stuck in neutral for all of their Week 4 contest with the Utes.

Pressure constantly got home and missed opportunities in both the red zone and in the turnover category wasted a brilliant performance from the Bruins defense.

The loss dropped UCLA from the AP Top 25 but Moore would not be denied in his second test against a ranked conference opponent.

Still just 18 years young, Moore took fewer sacks and threw for a higher completion percentage and more yards against the Cougars.

The team's bye week paid off to adjust what was necessary to beat their ranked opponent.

Washington State picked off Moore to end the first half and took the interception to the house for a halftime lead.

DTR's words of wisdom helped calm Moore's nerves to some degree and the freshman avoided another loss after two fourth-quarter touchdown drives pushed UCLA's lead to 8.

UCLA's defense took care of the rest after a dominant second half ended with just seven points given up to their top 15 ranked foe in the upset win.

The Bruins can be thankful that their previous veteran signal caller from last season helped their newest face in the QB room lead the university to victory on his respective bye week.

Now with even more momentum in just Moore's first month of action, Chip Kelly's system hopes to replicate the same success it had with DTR under center.
