Former UCLA Standout Jake Bobo Earns Strong Praise From Pro Bowl Teammate

In this story:
Jake Bobo was a longshot to make the Seahawks roster heading into the training camp period.
Though he was UCLA's best receiver a year ago, the 6-foot-4 athlete didn't possess 'ideal' physical traits. He reportedly ran a 4.99 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, and those in NFL circles seemed concerned that he might not have the high-end upside needed to play on the professional level.
Bobo quickly put those misconceptions to bed via his exceptionally strong play with the Seattle Seahawks.
DK Metcalf showed a lot of love to #MoreBobo today. Really praised Jake’s attention to detail. DK also said he’s been picking Jake’s brain on stuff.

The undrafted rookies surprised plenty of people by making Seattle's final 53-man roster. Playing time behind the likes of Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and first-round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba might be tough. However, Bobo has done more than enough to stand out.
During both practices and preseason games, Bobo has been lauded for his toughness, hand-eye coordination, and -- perhaps above all else -- his route-running ability. So much so, that Metcalf had this to say about Bobo:
"Then I got up here and I've seen the way he ran routes and the way he practices, he practices harder than me. Like he's more detailed than I ever will be, and I use that as motivation to practice harder and make sure I'm honing into more details because he's doing all of the little things right."

This is quite the endorsement, considering it's coming from one of the most prolific wide receivers in the National Football League. It's also indirectly an endorsement of Chip Kelly's UCLA Football program and its ability to develop players at a high level.

Metcalf even offered this final sentiment on his talented teammate:
"You have to know where [Bobo] is, that's just what I'm going to say off the rip. Watching him I'm very curious how he gets open every time. So, I asked him about his skip release, or I asked him about what do you see here or what do you see there. So I mean, he's just a unique player in my opinion, who's going to make a lot of noise."

Seattle and Bobo (along with former UCLA teammate Zach Charbonnet) open the 2023 NFL regular season this weekend versus the Los Angeles Rams.
