UCLA Football: Defensive Lineman Finds Inspiration on His Wrist

This Bruins senior reminds himself everyday to get better.

Dovid Magna is a senior defensive lineman for the UCLA Bruins. Magna is looking to have a solid senior year for the Bruins and help the #1 pass rush in college.

Magna reminds himself of the work he has put in and the work that needs to be done by writing an inspiring message on his wrist tape every day.

Magna does not take anything for granted and knows the work someone has to put in every day to get where they want to be. Magna has put in the work.

Coming to the Bruins in 2020, Magna only played in 7 total games in the first two years of his Bruins career. He continued to work and improve, knowing what he could do.

In 2022, Magna played in all 13 regular season games and had 17 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Magna wasn't stopping at just a regular player; he wanted to be a major contributor.

In just one game in 2023 so far, Magna had four tackles against Coastal Carolina in a game that consistently pressured the QB and resulted in 3 turnovers for the defense that game.

Magna's work is paying off, and he is keeping that same mindset.

The defensive line may not be the flashiest position on the field, especially at 6'4 and 310 pounds. Magna is not setting the edge and getting multiple sacks a game, but he is one of the reasons that Coastal Carolina only had 56 yards on the ground and averaged a terrible 1.6 yards per carry in the game.

Magna is taking up space and giving opportunities for his teammates to succeed.

Magna will carry this mindset the entire year, just like he has been doing his entire football career.

He and the Bruins football team look to keep the win streak going as they are set to face off against San Diego State this week.
