UCLA's Football Program Poses Threat to Texas Four-Star Running Back

In this story:
Your UCLA Bruins may not have the most impressive 2024 class at the moment, but they're doing their part to climb the ranks.
Their top commitment for that class is the three-star recruit from Mission Viejo offensive lineman Mark Schroller. With their top recruit being a three-star, their overall ranking in the country isn't among the top, ranking at 59.
However, they offered over 25 players in that class that are still undecided, and they offered their 26th player last Friday. UCLA offered multifaceted Texas athlete Derrick McFall over the past weekend.
McFall is listed as a running back, but according to scouts, he could play multiple positions at the next level. The incoming senior has 25 offers at the moment, and even though UCLA just made him an offer, insiders say there's a ton of momentum between the two at the moment.
“I like UCLA a lot,” McFall said. “My 7v7 coach, Ryan Porter, connected me with
Jerry Neuheisel
and
Chip Kelly
and that’s how I got the offer.
“Coach Jerry was actually on vacation but watched my tape and then hit me back to tell me I had the offer. I had a great conversation with
Chip Kelly
, too, and I really love how they see me fitting in their offense. It’s a role I’m very comfortable with.”

McFall is a four-star recruit ranked number 48 in his home state of Texas. He stands at 5-10, 175 pounds, and can do it all on the field. In his conversation with Coach Kelly, Kelly saw a lot of his former player De'Anthony Thomas in McFall.
“They want to use me in the same exact way,” McFall said. “I know all about DAT, and I love that fit. I would play some running back, move around to the slot, play out wide and return punts and kicks.
“They want the ball in my hands and feel I could be a playmaker for them. De'Anthony was an elite player so to have a chance to be used in a similar way is pretty exciting.”

Louisville, Alabama, Florida, and TCU are among the favorites for McFall at the moment, but if UCLA can steal him away, that'd be huge for the Bruins.
