UCLA Men's Basketball: Retired Bruins Hall Of Famer Competed In Epic Bike Race

A different sport with different skills!

Far removed from his days of dominating the hardwood, one former UCLA Bruins legend took a crack at a different sport from his familiar post on the courts of both Pauley Pavillion and the NBA.

Taking up biking in his off days from his current spot as a commentator on TNT, the sharpshooting Hall of Fame wing Reggie Miller detailed his recent trial of a 100 mile race that left the former Bruin scarred.

"I was in survival mode after mile 55 when leg cramps made themselves a huge race presence. We started the race at 9 a.m. and it was already warm, it got up to 89 degrees for most of the race. So yes hardest day for me, but also this was the most fulfilling I've ever felt on two wheels and here's WHY. At least 50 to 60 riders would roll up to me clearly seeing me in distress, a lot offered their own salt tabs stash, water, food etc. etc. This is why I will ALWAYS come do STBGRVL, the gravel community is unmatched with so much inclusiveness.. They weren't helping me because I was 'Reggie Miller,' all they saw was another rider needing help."

Miller started his career as a Bruin and starred as a four year player for the university before moving onto the NBA with the Indiana Pacers.

There Miller would grow his legacy as one of the NBA's greatest shooters of all time, rising the ranks and retiring as the league's all time three-point king.

A five time All-Star and three-time all NBA selection, Miller's playoff battles in the East with Patrick Ewing's Knicks, Michael Jordan's Bulls and eventually the Pistons of the early 2000s are forever in the minds of fans across each generation.

Though he never tasted championship glory with his closest effort coming in 2000 against the Shaq and Kobe Lakers, we're sure Miller is content with the new challenges ahead of him like this insane trek through Mother Nature we don't envy him with.
