UCLA Basketball: Adem Bona Comments On Energy Change Behind Bruins' Big Win

Adem Bona reveals what made this Bruins win different for the team.

Head coach Mick Cronin recently spoke about the fact that star sophomore guard Adem Bona would need to reawaken to help lead the UCLA Bruins to much-needed wins. That is exactly what happened last night as he dropped 22 points in the Bruins route of Washington.

Bona played like a man possessed, as he was fast-breaking on every play. He credited the five dunks he secured on better communication from himself and the team in general.

The Bruins last night looked like a completely different team than the one that just lost 90-44 to Utah. Bona understands this and reveals what changed in the team's temperament that led to such a dominant win.

“Obviously you can see there’s a different attitude, a different energy in the game. We all took the game personally after the last defeat we faced, and you can see the togetherness. Guys cheering for each other, sharing the ball, and I think this is a good first step for us as a team. Caring for each other, celebrating every point, every loose ball, every dive, every charge. I think it's amazing how teams can change when a team comes together and celebrates everything.”

Bona commented on the Bruins not only having a higher energy and attitude toward the game but also how they all shared in successes. Energy changes can often lead to success as last night proved.

However, having heightened energy isn't the only thing this team needs. Coach Croninoften talks about the team's inexperience. The inexperience has a lot to do with how the team often does the opposite of what Bona spoke about.

They need to be present in every fast break and transition. They need to support one another through accolades and pick one another up when they make a mistake.

Basically, the Bruins need to do everything they did last night. It remains to be seen if last night's victory will be a fluke. They can silence critics by winning another game when they take on Arizona State on January 17.
