In this story:

Former UCLA basketball star Lonzo Ball has been sued by Alan Foster, a cofounder in Ball and family's Big Baller Brand, for "malicious prosecution, intentional interference with contractual relations and unjust enrichment" per Chuck Shilken of the Los Angeles Times.

This lawsuit is largely a response to when Lonzo previously sued Foster, in which Foster claims Lonzo made "false allegations and claims" about him. Foster is seeking over $600,000 from Lonzo.

Foster is also suing Lonzo Ball's brothers LaMelo Ball, Tina Ball, and LaVar Ball for "trademark infringement, fraud, unfair business practices, and more," per Shilken.

In addition, Foster's lawsuit against Lonzo stated the following:

“Lonzo continues to profit from the BSG and BBB brands that Alan helped build, yet Alan has been excluded from the business and deprived of his one-third share of profits and assets.
“As a result of his efforts to secure trademarks, increase social media engagement, develop business partnerships, and establish profitable marketing strategies, Plaintiff enhanced the value of BSG and its related entities in amount to be proved at trial, but estimated to exceed $10,000,000 (ten million dollars),” the lawsuit states. “It would be inequitable for Lonzo to retain those benefits without fairly compensating Alan for the value he provided, given that Lonzo then used his status to damage Alan’s interests.”

per Shilken.

It's not the easiest time for Lonzo Ball, who now faces this lawsuit in addition to likely missing the entire 2023-2024 NBA season after missing last season with a bad knee injury. Ball has not had the same success in the NBA as he did in college. The former second-overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017 is now on his third team with the Chicago Bulls.

During his time at UCLA, Ball was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, a consensus first-team All-American, and part of the first-team All-Pac-12 while averaging 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game.
