UCLA Football: Rising Northern California Safety Picks Up UCLA Offer

In this story:
Pittsburgh High School (Pittsburgh, CA) 2025 safety Jadyn Hudson has been holding it down in the secondary for one of the best high school programs in Northern California since he was a freshman. A former receiver for now Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada, Hudson shines on both sides of the ball but perhaps brightest at safety.
247 Sports has Hudson ranked as a four-star prospect (he was at one point a five-star) and lists him at 6-2, 175-pounds. He has visited Oregon a handful of times, USC, Colorado, and Miami. In addition to holding offers from those schools, he holds offers from Michigan, Washington, LSU, and many others. In a July interview with Buff Stampede's Jimmie Searfoss, Hudson listed Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, USC, Washington, Tennessee, and Oklahoma as the schools he is focusing on.
UCLA currently has no players committed in their 2025 class. AllBruins.com recently wrote about the most important UCLA commits, and should Hudson pledge to UCLA, we might have to adjust that list. Hudson is very, very polished.

Hudson is leading a stellar, 25th-ranked Pittsburgh High School defense that is one of the reasons they're undefeated and look poised to make a deep run into the playoffs.
UCLA has had one safety drafted into the NFL over the past 12 years. Hudson would be a very solid addition to a recruiting class in need of commits. In recent years, UCLA has been successfully leveraging the transfer portal, bringing in plug-and-play talent like the Murphy twins at defensive end and running back Carson Steele.
The transfer portal is still a relatively new aspect of college football and will need to be studied to see how its usage affects recruiting efforts. But when a program comes off as trigger-happy to bring in new talent (as they should be), it could have a ripple effect on future high school recruit's desire to go to UCLA.
