Expectations Rise for USC Trojans Transfer Portal Addition Terrell Anderson

In this story:
The USC Trojans brought in plenty of newcomers to the roster in an effort to get the program to its first College Football Playoff. From key transfer additions to impact freshmen, the Trojans didn't leave any stone unturned in their search to upgrade the roster. With all the newcomers entering USC's program, it brings up an interesting question.
Who is USC's top newcomer?
USC Trojans' Top Newcomer, According to ESPN

Billy Tucker of ESPN wrote that USC's top newcomer is transfer wide receiver Terrell Anderson, despite the Trojans signing the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle.
"Projects to be an immediate, high-volume target and the de facto WR1 ... Anderson's presence will provide a reliable veteran option for the Trojans' quarterback and allow Hines to take the next step in his development without facing constant double-teams. Expect Anderson to be utilized in a variety of alignments ... capitalizing on the space generated by Riley's dynamic playcalling," Tucker said.
What Makes Terrell Anderson Highly Valued

One of, if not the main reason why Anderson is valued so highly is that the USC coaching staff has already issued a public vote of confidence to Anderson in an indirect way.
When Anderson hit the transfer portal at the end of last season, he instantly became one of the top available pass catchers. As a sophomore at NC State, Anderson reeled in 39 catches for 629 yards and five touchdowns. He was able to do all of that while being a part-time starter as he appeared in all 13 games, but only started in five of them.
Despite a lack of production from the NC State pass offense, Anderson still managed to flash on film. His talent plus his promising stats got him ranked as the No. 11 wide receiver and No. 39 player in the transfer portal according to 247Sports’ rankings.
A Tall Task Ahead for USC‘s Wide Receiver Group

USC Coach Lincoln Riley and wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons know how to identify talent at the wide receiver position. Knowing they had to replace two future 2026 NFL Draft picks in wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane, the Trojans' coaches decided to bring in Anderson to help shore up the position group.
Considering the Trojans lost a lot of production with Lemon and Lane’s departure, Anderson should have a sizable role in the office this fall. Pairing him up with sophomore Tanook Hines will make up the duo that quarterback Jayden Maiava will be looking to rely on.
Anderson and Hines will be leading a wide receiver room that features some talented freshmen who could make huge impacts. USC signed four-stars Trent Mosley and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, both in-state recruits.
Mosley and Dixon-Wyatt came to USC as highly-regarded prospects. The latter spurned Ohio State at the eleventh hour and ultimately signed with USC after having a long-term commitment to the Buckeyes. Both players have the chance to be significant contributors for their freshman seasons, given how wide open the competition is behind Anderson and Hines.
