USC football: 4-star safety predicted to pick Trojans

Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.) safety Marquis Gallegos could be closing in on a USC commitment

Another day, another recruiting prediction favoring USC.

Late Tuesday night, 247Sports.com's Greg Biggins logged a crystal ball forecasting that 2024 Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.) safety Marquis Gallegos will pick USC.

Gallegos is 6-foot-1 and weighs 175 pounds. He's ranked as the No. 253 player nationally on the 247Sports.com composite. He's the country's No. 21 rated safety.

Back in May, Judson (Converse, Texas) safety Myles Davis officially visited USC and after the trip, he was predicted to pick the Trojans. But a month later, Davis looks more likely to go to Texas, which is good news for Gallegos. USC is only expected to take two safeties this cycle and the team already has one committed in four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright.

Gallegos officially visited USC last weekend. Only a trip to Oregon remains on his OV schedule.

The USC coaching staff has been on a recruiting heater in June landing nine commitments so far this month. The additions have elevated the USC class to No. 10 in the 247Sports.com team recruiting rankings and No. 7 on the On3.com's.

WHO'S COMMITTED TO USC IN JUNE?

USC hosted 12 official visitors the first weekend of June and the Trojans staff has landed seven commitments from that group so far.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player who visited to give a verbal to the Trojans. He announced his decision on June 4. Later that day, Boatwright also picked USC.

A day later, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.

In the last two weeks, four-star Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby and four-star Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews committed.

Four-star St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) cornerback Marcelles Williams and four-star Clearwater Academy (Fla.) offensive lineman Jason Zandamella both committed this past week.
