Virginia Baseball Rankings Roundup: Consensus Top 10 After Pitt Sweep

Boosted by a major series win over Wake Forest two weekends ago, Virginia baseball rattled off four-straight dominant wins last week and are now shooting up the various college baseball rankings. The Cavaliers crushed Georgetown 15-6 on Tuesday and then went on the road and earned their first ACC series sweep of the season, run-ruling the Panthers 18-2 in seven innings on Friday, posting double-digits again in a 10-4 win on Saturday, and then finishing the sweep with an 8-2 victory in the finale on Sunday.

After carrying the momentum of the big series win over Wake into a 4-0 week, Virginia experienced significant positive movement in each of the college baseball polls and is now a consensus top 10 team in the country.

D1Baseball moved the Cavaliers up five spots to No. 9. UVA also improved five spots on Perfect Game up to No. 10. Baseball America moved Virginia up five spots to No. 8 on Baseball America and UVA rose three spots to No. 8 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll

Up next, Virginia (20-4, 6-3 ACC) hosts Richmond on Tuesday at 4pm at Disharoon Park before heading to Durham for a pivotal three-game series at No. 11 Duke this weekend.
