Wake Forest Holds as Voter Confidence Grows in ACC Week 6 Power Rankings

In this story:
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-1, 2-1 ACC) remain No. 2 in our weekly ACC Football Power Rankings, but the voting reflects growing confidence in the Deacs. After posting a 4.20 average last week, Wake Forest improved to 3.10 this week following a dominant 57-3 victory over Stanford. Miami remains the unanimous No. 1, but Wake continues to hold its place ahead of the rest of the ACC field.
Miami once again holds the top spot unanimously. Most teams either remained in the same position as last week or moved no more than two spots in either direction. Louisville had the biggest change, dropping four spots.
Last week, there was a bottleneck in the rankings from Nos. 2-6, with all five teams posting averages between 4.20 and 5.10. Although Wake Forest also averaged 4.20, the Deacs finished at No. 2. This week, that bottleneck has narrowed to Nos. 2-5, with the four teams averaging between 3.10 and 4.60. Wake again leads that group with a 3.10 average, reinforcing the growing confidence our voters have in the Deacs.
For the first time this season, Georgia Tech finds itself at the bottom of our rankings. However, the Yellow Jackets aren't alone in that position, as another bottleneck has formed among the bottom four teams. Boston College, Syracuse, Stanford, and Georgia Tech have average rankings ranging from 15.00 to 15.50, with just half a point separating the group.
How Power Rankings Are Determined
Each week, our editorial staff of ten writers individually ranks the 17 teams in the ACC. We tabulate all the votes and determine the weekly power rankings.
