Last Sunday, there was a shooting that left three Virginia football players dead, and a fourth, running back Mike Hollis, hospitalized after being shot in the back.

Now, there's a positive update on Hollis' condition.

A video has emerged that shows Hollis walking again, taking his first steps after undergoing two operations to help him recover from the injuries.

Ebony Hollins-Allen, the player's sister, reacted to her brother's recovery.

"He's walking," she said, via WAFB. "Of course, with the assistance with his walker, but he's walking. He's walking.

“Everybody is amazed at how much and how fast he is progressing. And I believe it is because he is determined,” she added.

“His progress in his recovery is so rapid at this point, that, you know, it could be soon, hopefully soon. But we’re going to be here as long as we need to, as long as his recovery takes. We’re going to be here.”

The UVA community is still mourning from the loss of three football players — wide receivers Devin Chandler and Lavel Davis, Jr. and linebacker D'Sean Perry — who were killed by a gunman on Sunday.

The alleged shooter is Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a current UVA student and one-time Cavaliers football player.

Jones walked on to the Virginia football team in 2018, but did not play in any games and spent one semester on the roster before leaving the team.

Reports contend that Jones was targeting members of the UVA football team, but a connection between he and the victims is yet to be established.

Jones and the players he targeted in the shooting were not on the team, nor even enrolled at the school, at the same time.

Jones is facing three charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of malicious wounding, and additional gun charges. He is being held without bail in a Charlottesville jail.

Virginia announced it will not play Saturday's scheduled game at home against Coastal Carolina in the wake of the tragedy and that a decision on the finale against Virginia Tech is yet to be made.
