The Detroit Tigers continue to get bad luck when it comes to the health of starting pitchers.

Already out Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, Spencer Turnbull, and Matt Manning, the Tigers have now placed ace Eduardo Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list.

Rodriguez is dealing with a left index finger pulley rupture. The move is retroactive to May 29.

It's a tough loss for Detroit, who is battling it out with the Twins in the American League Central. Rodriguez is 4-4 with a 2.13 ERA in 67.2 innings this year. He's struck out 67 batters and has a WHIP of less than 1 (0.975).

Rodriguez signed a 5-year, $77 million contract in Detroit before the 2022 season after spending the 2015-2021 years with the Boston Red Sox. He helped the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series, going 13-5 that year.

He won 19 games in the 2019 season.

In more injury related news, the team has placed INF/OF Matt Vierling on the 10-day injured list with a back issue. He's hitting .241 this season in 46 games. He is in his first year in Detroit after spending the last two in Philadelphia.

The Tigers enter play on Tuesday at 25-27 but because of the mediocrity of the American League Central, they are just 2.0 games back of Minnesota.

The Tigers will play the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m. ET. Alex Faedo, who made history his last time out, will pitch against left-hander Martin Perez.

The Rangers are 34-19.
