Miami Marlins Outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. Out of Lineup, MRI Reveals No Damage

Chisholm hurt his hamstring Saturday against the Texas Rangers, but the young All-Star may avoid another trip to the injured list.

Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. will miss a second straight game Monday night due to an injury he suffered over the weekend.

According to Miami Herald beat reporter Jordan McPherson, Chisholm underwent an MRI on his right hamstring Monday. The tests came back negative, though, as no structural damage was revealed.

Chisholm last played Saturday against the Texas Rangers, leaving the game in the third inning after going 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and a failed stolen base attempt. The 25-year-old was not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

With the MRI coming back clean, Chisholm may have avoided another stint on the injured list.

Chisholm was on the 10-day injured list from May 14 to June 26 due to right turf toe. Chisholm hit the injured list again on July 3 with a left oblique strain, and he didn't return until July 31.

Across his last 13 games, Chisholm is hitting .358 with five home runs, 10 RBI, two stolen bases and an 1.161 OPS. However, those appearances are scattered across nearly three months as a result of all the injuries.

Chisholm is batting .253 with 10 home runs, 24 RBI, 15 stolen bases and a .753 OPS through 50 games this season, which is a slight dip in production from his All-Star 2022 campaign.

A lingering back injury also limited Chisholm to 60 games played last year, knocking him out for virtually the entire second half.

Chisholm may not be available Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, but he has been running and could be back before the road series concludes. From there, the Marlins will have Thursday off and return home to face the New York Yankees on Friday.
