The New York Yankees fell against the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium as starting pitcher Carlos Rodon left the game early with a hamstring injury.

The team has provided an update on Rodon, who will undergo testing.

The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Rodon (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

ANALYSIS
Rodon was removed from Sunday's start against the Astros due to left hamstring tightness, and the Yankees aren't yet sure whether he'll require a trip to the injured list. He described his exit as precautionary, but his imaging should help offer clarity on the severity of the injury, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the team update his status afterward. If Rodon is unable to make his next turn through the rotation, Luis Severino is a strong candidate to remain a starter.

Rodon lasted just 2.2 innings on Sunday, giving up five earned runs on three hits. He did strike out five but his ERA ballooned to 7.33 on the season.

It's been a disappointing first year in Pinstripes for Rodon, who was signed to a six-year deal this past offseason. He's thrown only 27 innings after missing most of the season with forearm and back problems, and now he's dealing with this.

In addition to the 7.33 ERA, he's 1-4 through six starts.

The Yankees are 58-54 on the season and remain in fourth place in the American League East. They are also 4.5 games back in the wild card chase.

They'll play the Chicago White Sox on Monday at 8:10 p.m. ET.
