Seattle Mariners' Jarred Kelenic Gets Injury Timeline After Breaking Foot

The Seattle Mariners are expected to be without young outfielder Jarred Kelenic until early September.

The Seattle Mariners, winners of three straight games to run their record to 50-48, got an official injury timeline on Saturday with regards to outfielder Jarred Kelenic.

Kelenic was put on the injured list this week after breaking his foot. He broke his foot by kicking a water cooler after striking out against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. He was extremely emotional about the whole thing on Thursday, and you can see that here.

Now: Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports the following:

Jarred Kelenic is expected to be in a boot for 4-6 weeks and likely won’t be back until early September, Jerry Dipoto tells @RealBradAdam.

All of a sudden, the outfield is a dire situation for the Mariners. In addition to Kelenic, the team has placed A.J. Pollock on the injured list as well. They have Julio Rodriguez and Teoscar Hernandez and will rotate the third spot among Dylan Moore and Cade Marlowe. Taylor Trammell has been recalled as well.

While Kelenic has regressed from his hot start, he's been one of the constant presences in the lineup this season. He's hitting .252 with 11 homers, 45 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He's also played good outfield, runs the bases well and has been one of the few players to provide energy to a generally listless team.

One of the centerpieces of the organizational rebuild, he was acquired before the 2019 season from the New York Mets.

The Mariners will finish out the series with the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. ET.

The M's trail the Blue Jays by 3.5 games in the American League wild card picture.
